"Twenty creadits" smirks Alonzo
Julia smiles, places her bet.
"Thirty on after we arrive."
Bess sighs,
"Really you all,
I think you're wrong.
Fifty on before we get there."
Magus laughs
"I'm with Bess." she grins widly
"After what I've seen
it'll be soon."
She lays down sixty of the chips they use in lieu of money.
In the corner Walman protestshopelessly
smitten himself-
"Think we should leave it alone?"
"Nonsense," Bess says
" everyone knows everything
Anyway in a group this small."
By the window Baines yells
"They're coming!".
The players hide their bets away
just as Adair and Danziger
come in fighting as usual.
The two never once guessing
how their public bickering
ups the odds for and against them.
In what seems to be the Advances'
sole form of entertainment
in dreary winter camp.
