The Thorn On The Rose

The thorn on the rose
keeps the rose safe.
Wandering hands
can not touch it
without being bled.
The frost on the rose
keeps in its secrets.
Searching eyes
can't discern its grace
without tearing it apart.
Being plucked is no danger
with thorns sharp as steel.
Tightly frosted closed petals
hide the rose's beauty
from mans questioning eyes.
So many have passed the rose by
seeing only the thorns and frost.
They will not scar their hands
and they will not break their hearts
for a rose that will never bloom.
