Second Earth

Onto floating cans in space.
And then to someone else's home,
To life in a strange new place.
Half-way across the universe,
With home so far away,
We struggle for a better life,
And a place where we can stay.
A sick young boy was taken
By creatures who live underground,
They healed him, made him whole again
And turned our lives around.
This is a journey about second chances
Where the shattered dreams of humanity's youth
Are as fresh as the new sky above.
And still we seek to know the truth:
The dark secrets of this planet
Can pale to what we carry inside,
Some are driven by thoughts of greed and avorice
And others just move with the tide.
Loneliness is the cruelest of friends
And the hardest to outrun.
It hunts us like a predator
Beneath this alien sun.
The ultimate journey,
The ultimate danger,
We came to this world
A group of strangers
Now we set out 'cross an uncharted world
Holding our dreams in our hands,
United toward a single purpose:
Braving this strange new land.
