All I asked for-” “I know, I know…But it’s just that Hermione…” “Oh, so you’d choose Hermione over your little sister, your own flesh and blood! Ron, you know mum won’t let me go alone!” “I know…But the symphony is boring, and Hermione’s going to go visist relatives for the rest of the summer; this is her last day in town…Hey! Maybe I could get *Harry* to go with you.” Ginny’s eyes smiled at the idea, and she quickly blushed. “I’m sure it wouldn’t trouble him at all. He was planning on lazing around here while I was gone, anyway,” Ron’s freackled face grinned, “Oy! Harry!” Harry came down from Ron’s room, where he had been taking a nap. His hair was tossled, and there was a large pink imprint from the blanket on his cheek. He was the definition of adorable. Harry had grown considerably since the end of fourth year. He, like Ginny, was what Mrs. Weasley liked to call “a late bloomer.” He had shot up like a weed, again as Mrs. Weasley would say, and he was now eye to eye with Ron! He was not so skinny anymore, either, because he had spent everyday of the summer alternating between Quidditch practice and eating. He was always eating. Even though she had always liked him as that scrawny, gawky boy, he did look much better now. Harry yawned an adorable lion yawn, “What?” “Hey Harry, could you take my sister to the symphony tonight? Mum won’t let her go alone (says it’s too dangerous for a young lady), and I’ve got a date with Herms.” Ginny frowned. “My sister?” She was standing right next to him, and he was acting as if she wasn’t even in the room. Atleast Fred and George treated her like a real person. Granted, they treated her like a person who was an excellent target for dung bombs, but they treated her like a person all the same. To her surprise, Harry responded with an enthusiastic, “Sure!” Sure! Ginny’s stomach jumped for joy. Not just a sure but an enthusiastic one… Perhaps she was over-analyzing the situation. Okay…this is a product of spring break. I just see Ginny as a symphony kind of gal. Oh, and the muggle symphony is different from the wizard one. You’ll find out next more in the next segment. In the last fic I wrote, I killed off Harry. I got tired of fluff. Hopefully in this fic I’ll find a happy medium between fluff and Harry-killing. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Next Chapter ( 2 ) » ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Review Story ( be a responsible reader and write a review) Title: A Night at the Symphony Name: Email: (optional) Review: If you feel that this entry violates any of the guidelines set by FanFiction.Net please click here to notify the staff. She sometimes wished that she was prettier, her face not so freckled, and her figure not so gangly. She sighed. Maybe then Harry would like her. A knock at the door. "Um, Ginny?" a shaky voice inquired. Ginny knew that voice; it was her favorite voice. She smoothed her hair and opened the door. Harry was slightly slumped over, holding his weight on one foot. Ginny sighed; his dress robes really did bring out his eyes. But Harry's normally confident manner seemed somewhat shaken when he saw her, and Ginny didn't quite know why. She decided that it couldn't be because he thought she looked smashing in her lilac dress robes...That was wishing for the impossible. "You look...," he stammered, "We better get late. Don't want to be going." "Um...okay," said Ginny confusedly. She thought that perhaps it was her that he was stammering at, but years of hand-me-downs and dung bombs had taught her not to get her hopes up. *** "You know, I've never been to the symphony before--Muggle or Wizard," said Harry, deep in thought as they walked through a long garden, "The Durselys weren't exactly cultured, you know." Ginny giggled. "But seriously, Ginny, I think it's great that you do stuff like this," then Harry caught sight of what was ahead of him, "Wow." "Pretty, huh?" The path ahead of them was lined with rose bushes--the most beautiful rose bushes Ginny and Harry had ever seen. Harry stopped to take a closer look. The bloom was as big as his hand! It's outer petals were pale yellow, growing gradually pinker towards the center, and in the dead center sat a little fairy, twittering about happily. Harry soon noticed that all of the rose bushes had little fairies in them, making them look as if they were covered in a blanket of stars. The path ended at a clearing in a forest filled with white wooden chairs that were filling up with people. Ginny and Harry took seats closest to the front. Ahead of them on a raised platform sat various muggle instruments--a violimb, a jello, crumpets, and even a giant Krum. Ginny was proud of herself for remembering their names. And then, the instruments began to play, slowly at first, and Harry recognized the tune as Beethoven's ninth symphony. They played it all the time in the muggle world. "Beethoven was a wizard?" he whispered. "Yeah, his parents wouldn't let him go to Hogwarts because of his music, though. I think that's why he was so huffy all the time." The music progressed, and in the middle of the second movement, Harry looked over at Ginny and smiled. "It's now or never," Ginny thought, "I have to do something." By the end of the movement, she had convinced herself to take his hand. Slowly, she moved her hand towards his arm rest. The seconds flowed like hours. Finally, her hand arrived at its destination. She grabbed Harry's hand and squeezed it. Harry's head turned sharply toward Ginny and he whispered, "Ginny...I--I...I don't--don't think you should..." Harry's whisper must have been a little too loud, because people were starting to turn their heads to look at them. Ginny couldn't take it anymore; she just couldn't stand herself sometimes. Tears streaming down her face, she stood up and walked as fast as she could back toward the Burrow, leaving Harry dazed in his seat, listening to the last movement of a genius' last symphony. Just to let you know, I picked Ludwig Van's ninth, because Beethoven is my favorite composer, and I find the ninth his most interesting symphony. Everything was fuzzy from her tears, but she managed to make it to her bed. She flopped down onto it, just letting her tears soak her pillow. "Ginny, dear," said a voice just beyond her door, "Are you all right?" Ginny moaned and rolled over, "Yeah," she lied. "Can I come in?" "Yeah," Ginny sniffed. She knew her mom could help her. Afterall, they were the only Weasley women; they had to stick together. "Tell your mum what's wrong," the round, motherly Mrs. Weasley said as she sat down on the foot of Ginny's bed, rumpling the old, pink patchwork quilt. Her face half in shadow, she looked almost like a ghost. "It's just that...why doesn't he like me?" "Harry?" Mrs. Weasley gave a warm smile. She loved Harry like her own son... He certainly ate like her own sons. Ginny nodded; her eyes picturing Harry's face. "What should I do, then?" she sniffled. "Let it be." When I find myself in times of trouble, Mother Mary comes to me, Speaking words of wisdom, Let it be. And in my hour of darkness, She is standing right in front of me Speaking words of wisdom, Let it be. "Huh?" "There will be an answer; let it be," said Mrs. Weasley as she stood up and left Ginny alone in thought. A cloud shifted away from the moon, and moonlight suddenly poured into the dark room. Startled, Ginny sat up and moved toward the window, gazing up at the stars. In a room not so far away, a black-haired boy was staring up at the same stars. And when the broken hearted people living in the world agree There will be an answer, Let it be. For though they may be parted, There is still a chance that they will see. There will be an answer, Let it be. Otae...this is my pathetic attempt to write a song fic. i'd never writen one before, so i figured "what the hay," and wrote one, using one of my favorite songs. it's written by *sigh* paul mccartney (oh, how i love him!), in case for some strange reason, you'd never heard "let it be" before. should i end the fic here? or should i include a chapter about harry making a little late-night visit to ginny's room? review and let me know. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ « Previous Chapter ( 2 ) Next Chapter ( 4 ) » ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Review Story ( be a responsible reader and write a review) Title: A Night at the Symphony Name: Email: (optional) Review: If you feel that this entry violates any of the guidelines set by FanFiction.Net please click here to notify the staff. He rolled over onto his side and looked around the room, noticing how strange all of the Chudley Cannon memorablia looked in the darkness. All of the sudden, something in the corner of the room began to stir. He did a double take and looked at it more closely. It was a woman, a woman who he didn't fully recognize, but he did recognize her eyes, somehow. They were bright green. "Mum?" he whispered as the woman came over and leant over him. "Shh..." she said, "Now, Harry, why didn't you hold that nice girl's hand?" "Huh?" he said, confused. "Harry, honey, don't think that just because I'm dead I'm not going to spy on you." He grinned. All he ever wanted was a family, even if they did spy on him. "Harold James Potter, you are to march over to that girl's room and hold her hand! You made that poor dear cry!" "But Ron'll get mad!" "You stupid git!" "Huh?" "Sorry, I guess your father's language has rubbed off on me." "Dad's there, too?" "Yes, but he thought this was really more of a Mum thing." Harry smiled. He had always pictured them as grand, proper heroes. Now he had met their real characters, "So, mum, why am I a stupid git?" "Because Ronald is your best friend! He'll understand!" "Really?" "Of course he will," she said smiling, "I know Ronald can be a little tempermental at times, but deep down, he wants you to get together with Virginia. I mean, if you two got married, then you and Ronald would be brothers!" Harry smiled at the thought. He wasn't sure if he was smiling at the idea of being brothers with Ron or marrying Ginny, "Thanks Mum," he said. "No problem," she said, starting to cry, "That's what your mum's for." Then, in a whirl of color, she was gone, and Harry woke with a start. "Mum?" he whispered, running to his window, "Mum! Don't leave me!" He knew it was too good to be true. But then a breeze flew in through the open window, and he was sure he heard her voice carry on it, "In your hours of darkness, I'll be standing right in front of you." Harry sighed and slumped back onto his bed. He had finally possesed the only thing he ever wanted to have--a family--and then it was gone as quickly as it had come. But then again, the Weasleys were the only family he had ever known. Mr. Weasley always tried to protect Harry, and Mrs. Weasley had knitted jumpers for him every Christmas. Fred and George played tricks on him; Percy tried to boss him around; Ron was always there for him, and Ginny...Ginny was something else. Mum was right, he thought as he started towards the door... She was his mum; she had to be right. He twisted the doorknob slowly, careful not to make a sound. He didn't want Mr. or Mrs. Weasley (and especially not Fred and George) to wake up and discover Harry and Ginny's...gratuitous hand-holding. He crept down the hallway, and soon he found himself just outside Ginny's door; he didn't hear any sniffling and wasn't sure if that was a good sign or not. He knocked softly. "Yes," said a muffled, tiny voice. "Um, Ginny, it's Harry. Can I come in?" "I guess so." She was sitting on her windowsill, just staring at the sky. She looked strange, moonlight the only thing illuminating her curly red hair. He slowly walked up to her, afraid to destroy the perfect image before his eyes. "I'm sorry," he whispered as he took her little hand. It was smooth and cold like a river rock. She muttered something that sounded a great deal like, "You should be." "Ginny, I do like you. I was just afraid of what Ron would think, you know?" She nodded, her eyes portraying her dissapointment. "But you know what they say, Ginny," said Harry grinning from one adorable ear to the other, "What Ronny don't know can't hurt him." Harry pulled her up and then, to Ginny's amazement, kissed her. Suddenly, Ron and Hermione burst in through the door backwards, snogging. When Ron realized that his best friend was kissing his little sister, he was too preoccupied with getting some quality snogging time in before Hermione left to care. He just said, "Right-o mate. See you later," saluted, and pulled Hermione out of the room. So this is the end of my happy, happy fluff fic. I hope you enjoyed it! I'm proud to be a fluff writer! They'll probably be more fluffy fics soon, hopefully with Fred and George! I love Fred and George! But not as much as I love Harrry! I have a song declaring my love for him, actually. You should read it. It's rather amusing. But now, off to Spanish homework. Donde esta la biblioteca... How's my writing? Call 1-800-Eat Bubotuber Pus (I saw a bumper sticker that said something to this affect) Oh, and the line "What Ronny don't know can't hurt him" comes from "The Waterboy." I changed Momma to Ronny. Not that Harry has seen "The Waterboy." Oh, and don't flame me because I enjoy immature comedies (Note above bumper sticker slogan). ------------------------------------------------------------------------ « Previous Chapter ( 3 ) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Review Story ( be a responsible reader and write a review) Title: A Night at the Symphony Name: Email: (optional) Review: If you feel that this entry violates any of the guidelines set by FanFiction.Net please click here to notify the staff.
