Dream a Little Dream of Me Category: Books » Harry Potter Censor: PG Genre: Romance/Drama Reviews: 11 Author: Moonbeam Font Size: Bigger (+) - Smaller (-) The little house in Godric's Hollow was quiet, but a tension filled the air around Lily and James Potter. They were sitting in silence, Lily cradling baby Harry, rocking him softly. Suddenly, an echoing crash was heard not far from the house. "Lily, it's them." James said urgently, springing from his seat. "James--" "It's going to be OK, take Harry and go!" Lily stood, and laid Harry in his bassinette, but as the door to the house crashed open, she was frozen on the spot. "LILY! Go!" James shouted and flashes of light were emitted from several wands outside the house. James backed away from the door as a tall, dark figure entered. "Oh God..." Lily gasped as the Dark Lord towered over them. "Lily get out of here!" James yelled, but Lily shook her head. "James, no! I will not leave you here!" She said stubbornly, drawing her wand. But in moments, there was a flash of green light and James had falling to the floor dead. Lily screamed, tears pouring down her face. She backed away from Voldemort, so that her body blocked a sleeping Harry from view. "No! Please...not Harry! Please not my son!" She screamed through her tears, her body wracked with sobs. As another flash of green lit the house... Harry sat bolt upright on the cot he'd been sleeping on. His hair was mussed, and his scar was throbbing painfully on his forehead. He looked around Ron's orange room, and saw that his friend was sleeping. 'I need water.' Harry thought silently to himself, trying to swallow, his throat was like sandpaper. He got up quietly, putting on his glasses and heading downstairs carefully. Once in the kitchen, he got a glass of water and walked out onto the porch to get some fresh air. It was almost 3 am and the air was cool despite the hot summer weather they'd experienced at the Burrow for the past week. He sat down in one of the benches on the porch, taking slow, deep breaths. His scar burned and he was still shaking ever-so-slightly. The images from the dream still passed through his mind like a twisted horror movie, refusing to let him sleep through the night. Harry had thought that after going to live with Sirius after fifth year that the dreams would stop. They didn't. Then when Voldemort fell (again) they still came to him every night. It was like even in death (finally this time), Voldemort was still wreaking havoc on Harry's life. Ron and Hermione had been worried sick about him lately, and Harry had insisted that they stop worrying and concentrate on eachother... A slow smile crept acrss Harry's lips as he thought of his two very best friends. They had discovered that they liked eachother for more than friends at the end of fifth year and had fallen in love by sixth year, even in the midst of an all out war against Voldemort. They would probably marry, and the very thought made Harry's spirits lift. His friends belonged together. Harry's thoughts were interupted as his eyes travelled to the corner garden, where he could have sworn he saw a flash of red. He raised his eyeborws and stood, walking towards the garden. He'd forgotten that he was only dressed in a white t-shirt and green plaid boxers. ~*~ Ginny sighed as she sat in the far corner of the garden, her knees hugged to her chest, her forehead resting on her knees. She was in a tank top and pajama bottoms. She sniffled softly, trying desperately to forget the nightmare she'd just woken up from only an hour before. She too, was plagued by nightmares, though quite different from Harry's. She always dreamt that she was walking into the Great Hall, and everyone began laughing and pointing at her. Then, when she was about to run screaming and crying, DreamHarry would approach her. And DreamHarry would say to DreamGinny that she was a stupid fool. That she should give up on him and stop being such an idiot. In fact, DreamHarry's exact words were "Stop following me, stop liking me, stop even THINKING about me!". Then, he would stomp away, and the real Ginny would wake up, crying. Ginny wiped the tears from her eyes, trying to forget the dream. She was tired of stressing over the nightmare so much. She was sick of crying. Maybe she should just-- "Ginny?" She looked up, startled, "Harry?!" She blushed. He was barely clothed, for the love of God. "Yeah, it's me." He replied, sitting next to her, "What're you doing out here?" "Oh...I couldn't sleep. So I came for fresh air. You?" "Oh...the same." "Oh." They sat in a comfortable silence. "Harry?" "Yes, Ginny?" "Do you find me...rediculous?" She asked timidly, trying not ot meet his eyes. "No! Why would I?" "I don't know." "Well don't think that." Harry said firmly. He watched Ginny for a moment, then slung one arm casually over her shoulders. Ginny almost cringed. She knew this was a "brotherly" thing, and it pained her to feel the weight of his arm over her shoulders. "Have you been crying?" Harry asked suddenly, noticing her red eyes. "No." She said quickly, then ammended, "I mean, it's probably allergies." "Ginny. Don't lie to me, please. What happened?" "I had a nightmare." She said. "Oh. What about." "I...I can't remember now. I was just shaken is all." She said, looking away. "Why are YOU really out here?" Harry was silent for a moment then said, "I had a nightmare, too." "Well, what was it? I mean, if you remember...or if you don't want to tell, that's fine--" "It was of my mum and dad." He interupted, his green eyes clouding over. "Oh..." "Except not like they used to be. Now the dream gets clearer and clearer. I...I can see their faces, Ginny. I can see it all now." He turned away, his arm dropping from her shoulders. For a moment Ginny thought Haryr would cry. She had never seen a boy cry. Not a 17 year old boy, anyway. But instead, he took a deep breath. "But I'll be OK." Ginny studied him for a moment then decided that she should tell him the truth. "I lied. I remember my dream." "Really?" "Yeah. It's about you." "I'm in your nightmare??" Ginny blushed and looked down, "Yes. In my nightmare, I enter the Great Hall for dinner and EVERYONE begins laughing at me. They all begin pointing and laughing and then you come up to me. And then you tell me how stupid I am and that I should give it up. Just stop trying anymore." "Wait. I'm confused. Give what up?" Harry asked, confusion etched on his face. "You mean you don't KNOW?" Ginny whispered in astonishment. Harry shook her head and she stood, throwing her hands in the air, "UNBELIEVABLE!" "Ginny, what are you talking about?" He asked, and she groaned in frustration. "Harry Potter, are you BLIND?! I have liked you since your first year!!" "But--" "All I could talk about shile you and Ron were at school was Harry Potter this, Harry Potter that! Then in my first year--do ya NOT remember the valentine?! Then you SAVED MY LIFE and I FELL FOR YOU! Then my second year you all were off saving Sirius. By the way, I am still mad about being left out of that. THEN in your fourth year, you were the champion. I had you on a pedestal, Harry. But I GIVE UP!!!!!" "Ginny, wait--" Harry tried to interupt, standing up. "NO! I WILL NOT WAIT! I HAVE WANTED YOU FOR SEVEN YEARS AND YOU HAVEN'T EVEN NOTICED!" "Ginny," Harry hissed, "You'll wake the house!" "I don't care! I GIVE UP! HEAR THAT, WORLD?! I, GINNY WEASLEY HEREBY GIVE UP ON HARRY POTTER!" She stopped her tyrade and looked at harry, her auburn hair askew, her cheeks flushed pink. "Are you quite finished?" Harry asked quietly, his arms crossed over his built chest. "Yes, I am." I am finished, Harry. Finished with YOU." She turned to leave but Harry grabbed her wrist, whirling her around to face him. "You let me go right n-" But she was cut off completely as Harry lowered his lips to hers. Ginny's eyes widened in surprise, then closed with pleasure. Harry pulled her close to him, his arms wrapped tight around her. Up at the house, The whole Weasley family, plus Hermione, hung out of their bedroom windows, watching with smiles on their faces. AS Ginny and Harry broke apart, Harry spotted them. "We have an audience." He whispered, looking over Ginny's shoulder. She blushed furiously, and buried her face in his shoulder. "Have you all nothing better to do than watch us!" She yelled, not turning around. Everyone chuckled and began going back into their windows. Fred and George sent Harry four thumbs up, and Ron and Hermione nodded in smug satisfaction. Back down in the garden, Ginny slid down the fencepost, and sat on the ground. Hary was still watching the house when she grabbed his hand and tugged firmly, pulling him next her. "Did you want something?" He asked innocently. Ginny smiled, then leaned forward and kissed him again, years of pent up frustration pouring into it. They were getting into their kissing and didn't notice the straggling garden knomes coming in from the day before's de-knoming. A few knomes stopped to stare before ducking into their holes in the ground. ~*~ Stars shining bright above you Night breezes seem to whisper 'I love you' Birds singin' in the sycamore tree Dream a Little Dream of Me Say nighty night and kiss me Just hold me tight and tell me you'll miss me While I'm alone and blue as can be Dream a Little Dream of Me ~*~ Review Story ( be a responsible reader and write a review) Title: Dream a Little Dream of Me Name: Email: (optional) Review: If you feel that this entry violates any of the guidelines set by FanFiction.Net please click here to notify the staff.
