Thought I was gone for good, huh? Nope, I just haven’t had time / haven’t had inspiration to finish Ron Weasley: The Boy Who Lived. I’m not abandoning it, though, so don’t worry! As for THIS fic, it’s going to be a three part romance. Set during the summer after GoF at the Burrow. First chapter is about Harry and Ginny, the second will be Molly and Arthur (ooooh, we don’t see much of THEM do we?), and the third will be Hermione and Ron. This fic was greatly inspired by the soundtrack to the movie Only You (the most romantic CD EVER comprised!), hence the title. There’s no real plot, just romantic fluff. BTW, I’ve never written romance before so I don’t know how good it is! (Shoot, maybe I should say that in an END note! WAIT, DON’T GO!) I hope you enjoy the fic. One you are done, please deposit all questions / comments / praises / flames into the review box at the bottom of the page. Thank you! Cheers! Disclaimer: I’ve used up all my funny disclaimers! I don’t own any of the HP characters in this fic. Nor do I own the rights to Only You products or the song "Some Enchanted Evening". The Porch It was the middle of July. Dumbledore, taking into consideration Harry’s traumatic experience during the Triwizard Tournament, decided it was better he be around friends than the Dursley’s while he tried to deal with everything. The Weasleys, of course, insisted that Harry stay at the Burrow for the summer. They also extended the invitation to Hermione Granger. With a full house, the summer drifted along in a pleasant haze. For the moment, Voldemort seemed far away and harmless. The weather that day had been sunny but some what windy. The temperature was about 27ºC. Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Fred, George and Percy had spent the day at the small paddock up the hill playing Quidditch. (Actually, Percy stayed on the ground with some Ministry report. Though he insisted he was working, he continually got distracted by the game, and eventually served as an unofficial referee.) When the shadows started to grow long, the group tramped back to the Burrow. It was with great contentment that everyone sat down to a late dinner that evening. With Molly Weasley’s mouth-watering cooking and cheerful, boisterous conversation, everyone felt happy and at ease. After the dinner was eaten, the table cleared, and the dishes washed, everyone disbursed quietly. Percy, Fred and George all went up to their respective rooms, Ron and Hermione wandered off into the garden, Molly and Arthur relaxed in the parlour, and Harry went out to the front porch. With a glass of pumpkin juice in hand, Harry sat down on the Weasley’s wicker bench. He was just sitting in the dark, gazing at the stars and gently mulling over his thoughts when he was interrupted by a red-haired, female intruder. ‘Hi Ginny.’ Harry greeted. ‘Hi Harry. Mind some company?’ Ginny asked shyly. ‘No, go ahead, sit down.’ Harry returned with a smile, which was barely visible. Ginny sat down on the bench next to him. In the past few years, Harry and Ginny had grown closer. In his second year, Harry had merely referred to Ginny as "Ron’s-Little-Sister". After the whole Tom Riddle fiasco, she had been elevated to fond acquaintance. But last year, and especially in the past few weeks, Harry had come to think of her as a friend. Ginny had become a constant companion to Harry, Ron and Hermione that summer. Though she was still shy around him, she seemed to be more comfortable in his presence; at least she didn’t blush fiercely whenever he was around anymore (well, not as much anyway). Harry grinned as he remembered how she, Hermione and George had kicked Harry, Ron and Fred’s arses that afternoon at Quidditch. ‘So Harry, are you enjoying your summer?’ Ginny asked timidly. ‘Oh yeah! Definitely! Your family’s absolutely great!’ Harry answered enthusiastically. ‘Good, I’m glad.’ Ginny replied. ‘Yeah.’ After a slight pause Harry asked, ’are you?’ ‘What?’ ‘Enjoying your summer?’ ‘Oh, yes!’ Ginny answered with a nervous giggle. ‘Whenever we have company, my brothers have to be nice to me.’ ‘I can see where that would be a perk for you.’ ‘You have no idea.’ Ginny said in a semi-serious tone. ‘That bad, huh?’ ‘Just be thankful you’re not related to Fred and George. They hold back on their pranks when you’re not a blood relative.’ ‘You poor dear!’ Harry and Ginny caught each others eye in the dim light. They each cracked a smile and started to laugh. They eventually lapsed into a comfortable silence. As they sat there gazing at the stars, a soft music drifted to the porch from an open window. "Some enchanted evening, You may see a stranger, You may see a stranger across a crowded room, And some how you know, You know even then, That somewhere you’ll see her, again and again..." Ginny turned her head in the direction on the music. She smiled to herself. ‘Hmm...’ she murmured softly. ‘What?’ Harry asked. ‘Nothing. It’s just this song. It’s...’ Ginny trailed off. ‘What about it?’ Ginny thought for a second, then grabbed Harry’s arm. ‘Come on, I’ll show you.’ Harry quickly set his empty glass on the floor under the bench and let himself be pulled to the other end of the porch. At the other end was a softly lit, open window. Ginny crouched under it and motioned for Harry to follow her. When they were both under the sill, Ginny pointed up, and they both peeked in. Harry smiled at the slight thought the window. Though the parlour window, Harry and Ginny could see Mr and Mrs Weasley. The room was dimly lit by a few scattered candles. A deep, thick Italian voice, coming from the corner, softly filled the room. Ezio Pinza was singing his rendition of "Some Enchanted Evening" on an old muggle record player. In the centre of the parlour, Molly and Arthur were dancing slowly, cheek to cheek. Harry looked back at Ginny. She met his eyes with a smile. Silently, they crept back to the bench. After a few more minutes, Harry finally spoke, ‘Your parents are such a great couple. It must be nice to know that after so much time, they’re still in love which each other.’ ‘Yeah,’ Ginny agreed softly. ‘It’s really comforting, that song. When ever I hear it...I know everything’s okay.’ ‘Wow....I mean, just to grow up with parents like that.’ Harry paused for a long moment. Then, quietly, he said, ‘I like to think my parents were like that.’ Ginny her heart ache with sympathy. ‘I’m sure they were,’ she reassured him softly. ‘I just wished I could have known them better.’ Harry said more to himself than to Ginny. The topic of his parents was rather sensitive after the Priori Incantatem spell. Ginny was moved that Harry would reveal this to her. In the dark, she couldn’t read his face, so she couldn’t tell whether she should pursue this subject. Finally, she began to speak again. ‘Do your aunt and uncle not have a happy marriage?’ Harry was brought back from his reverie by this unexpected question. ‘No, they- well, I guess they have a happy marriage. I mean, they’re not nearly as sweet and wholesome as your parents, but from what I’ve observed they’re perfectly matched.’ Ginny had the feeling this last bit was somewhat bitter. ‘The only strain I’ve seen on their marriage would be me.’ Ginny bit her lip. Oh, how had she let the conversation turn so badly? She couldn’t bare the pain she heard in Harry’s voice. Tentatively she reached out for his hand. When Harry felt her small hand close over his, he looked at her questioningly. ‘It’s not your fault you know,’ she said. ‘They sound like, just horrid people. I mean, any half decent person would appreciate having you as a part of their family.’ Harry smiled warmly. His chest seemed to light up at the kindness of her words. ‘Thanks Ginny. I know that now. I used to think it was me. But when I was seven I met another kid who was an orphan. I saw him with his guardians, I knew it wasn’t me; it was them.’ Ginny clenched her teeth in anger. What horrible people! Poor Harry! What must it have been like for him to grow up without anyone to love him? ‘Well, who needs ‘em anyway? You’re part of our family now.’ ‘Really?’ Harry asked. The vulnerable quiver in his voice made Ginny’s heart skip a beat. ‘Yeah.’ she said squeezing his hand. ‘After all, you get a Weasley sweater every Christmas, right?’ Harry and Ginny started laughing. ‘Yeah, that’s true.’ After their giggles subsided, Harry asked jokingly, ‘so, does that make you my little sister then?’ Ginny’s laughter died on her lips; she suddenly felt as if her heart had sunk into her stomach. *No! I’m not your sister! Harry, don’t you see that I’m in love with you? I don’t want you to be another brother, I want you to be my soul mate! I’m not your sister.* Ginny looked up at Harry. ‘If that’s what you want me to be.’ Harry’s smile faded when he heard the serious tone of her reply. She seemed so sad and disappointed. Harry suddenly remembered that Ginny had once had a crush on him. Suddenly he found himself thinking, *Do I want her as a sister?* But before Harry could answer his own question, Ginny gasped and shivered. ‘Are you cold?’ Harry asked, concerned. ‘Yeah, it’s okay, I’ll just-’ ‘No. Here, take my sweater.’ ‘Oh! How chivalrous of you!’ Ginny smiled as she accepted the proffered sweater. ‘Yeah, well, that’s what we heroes do you know. Save the world, give up our sweaters to cold damsels.’ Harry joked, rubbing his arms. ‘Ah! But now you’re going to be cold!’ Ginny observed. ‘Oh, no worries. I’m macho, I can handle it.’ Ginny just shook her head. * * * * * For hours, Harry and Ginny just sat talking. About Quidditch, the summer, Ron and Hermione, and school. The two just felt as ease in each other’s company. ‘You know, this is probably the first time I’ve not looked forward to going back to Hogwarts.’ Harry said with a sigh. ‘Really? Why?’ Ginny asked. ‘This summer, it’s been like a sanctuary. There’s nothing evil here, no danger. But I know the moment I go to Diagon Ally, or get on the Hogwarts Express, I’m going to have to face reality again.’ ‘Must be tough being a hero.’ Ginny mused. Harry frowned and bit his lip to keep it from quivering. ‘I never wanted any of this. I just want to be a regular kid. No one understands that though.’ Ginny sat quietly for a few moments. ‘I do.’ Harry didn’t answer. Ginny decided to continue. ‘Ever since Ton Riddle and the diary; I know what it’s like to be caught up in something dangerous and frightening that you don’t know how to escape from.’ Harry nodded. She did understand. ‘People think I’m invincible because I’ve survived him before. But I’m not! I’m just as scared as anyone else.’ Harry said in despair. Ginny fought against tears. ‘Well, you won’t have to face it alone. Ron and Hermione...and me. We’ve all faced, HIM, before, well sort of. And we’ll do it again.’ Harry smiled weakly. ‘You have no idea what that means.’ ‘I meant it.’ Suddenly Harry shivered. ‘Brrr. Now I’m cold! I don’t want to go in though, it’s so nice out here.’ Ginny giggled. ‘Hold on a sec.’ She reached over to the truck in front of the bench that Harry had been using as a foot rest. She brushed his legs off, opened it and pulled out an old quilt. ‘A blanket! You had a blanket the whole time! And you let me give up my sweater and freeze?’ ‘I tried to get it, but you wouldn’t listen!’ Ginny said amused. ‘All right, hand it here!’ Harry said making a grab for it. Ginny giggled in protest. ‘Hey! You have to share!’ After a short squabble, Harry and Ginny settled, side by side, shoulder to shoulder, under the quilt. They sat there silently, looking at the stars. ‘Harry, you took Astronomy right?’ Ginny asked sleepily. ‘Um-hm.’ Harry affirmed. His eyes felt so heavy... ‘So tell me about some of the stars.’ ‘OK.’ Harry forced his eyes open. ‘See that bunch over there? That’s Usa Major.’ ‘Really.’ Ginny said in between a yawn. ‘Have no idea. Could be.’ Harry replied. ‘Hmm.’ Ginny sighed as she laid her head on his shoulder. ‘Ginny?’ Harry said groggily. ‘Um-hm.’ ‘You’re not falling asleep are you?’ Ginny turned closer to Harry and wrapped her arm around his waist. ‘Uh-uh.....Harry?’ ‘Um-hm?’ ‘I love you.’ Harry opened his eyes slightly. In the dim light he could barely see Ginny’s hair spread across his chest. Half asleep, he couldn’t tell if the warmth he felt around him was the blanket or Ginny’s arms. He could feel her rhythmic breathing against his side, matching his own. Ginny’s last words were spoken so softly and slurred with on coming sleep he wasn’t sure if what he’d heard was real or a dream. Just before sleep claimed him, Harry wrapped his arm around Ginny and answered, ‘Love you too.’ Review Story ( be a responsible reader and write a review) Title: Only You Name: Email: (optional) Review: If you feel that this entry violates any of the guidelines set by FanFiction.Net please click here to notify the staff.
