Welcome to Mailing Lists page. Here you can learn something about Earth 2 mailing lists: topics and rules of the lists. First I'll explain what lists are about, then help with lists and rules of lists.

This is the original Earth2 list and it's center for discussion about NBC television series EARTH 2. You'll get more info when subscribing on this address. This list is *very* loosely moderated, but you still must abide some rules (see Rules of Lists).

This list is same as Earth2 list, but the message is sent only ones or twice on day. When you want to say something you send message to Earth2 list, and then get answers at this lists.

This list, is the center for posting, reading and discussing fan generated fiction about the NBC television series EARTH 2.... You'll get more info when subscribing on this address. This list is *very* loosely moderated, but you still must abide some rules (see Rules of Lists). On this list you should talk just about Fan-Fiction and nothing else. Fan Fiction is posted with the understanding that Earth2 and it's characters are the sole property of Amblin Entertainment.

This list, is the center for humor of all kinds, but especially relating to the NBC television series EARTH 2.... We also named it Grendler Bar and Grille! This list is *very* loosely moderated, but you still must abide some rules (see Rules of Lists).

Not used anymore!
This list, exists *only* for distributing summaries of the activities of the Earth2 Mailing list (Home of Earth2: Eden Advance [E2:EA]). Any replies to the summary will be forwarded to the main list where discussions occur. On this list you get only one message on week. This list is moderated, and is read-only, all messages sent here are forwarded to main list. Here apply other rules as with other lists:

1) Flames...either personal, against the show, or against E2:EA or any component thereof.
2) Off topic postings. On other lists, these are occasionally tolerated, but since you won't be on the list that the comment will be going to...they *won't* be in this case.
3) Advocating any other groups or programs (falls under the broader "off-topic" postings, but deserves it's own category)
4) Sales of any materials whatsoever
5) Explicit postings
This list is monitored closely, for Earth 2 talks you can use any other list.

All list jobs are handled through Chapman's mailing list manager (ver 1.93):
Items in [ ] are optional, and in <> needed.

subscribe <list> [<address>]
Subscribe yourself (or <address> if specified) to the named <list>.

unsubscribe <list> [<address>]
Unsubscribe yourself (or <address> if specified) from the named <list>.

get <list> <filename>
Get a file related to <list>.

index <list>
Return an index of files you can "get" for <list>.

which [<address>]
Find out which lists you (or <address> if specified) are on.

who <list>
Find out who is on the named <list>.

info <list>
Retrieve the general introductory information for the named <list>.

lists
Show the lists served by this Majordomo server.

help
Retrieve help (All this quadrant of document).

end
Stop processing commands (useful if your mailer adds a signature).

Commands should be sent in the body of an email message to "Majordomo@stargame.dyn.ml.org".

Commands in the "Subject:" line are NOT processed.

Rules of Lists (as posted by Alicia)

1) *NO* flames!!! We're going to disagree from time to time and that's fine, but there's no need to get personal. If you disagree with someone's opinion, feel free to state your own...keeping in mind that *opinions*, by their very nature, can't be right or wrong...they just *are*. And try to separate the person from the opinion. You may feel that a person's *opinion* is stupid, but please don't call the *person* stupid. I'm sure that we're all mature enough to find a more diplomatic way to say things.

Flaming will result in a warning from me. Further infractions will result in removal from the list.

2) *NO* posting of copyrighted materials!!!! (unless you have permission, of course) Believe me...it's not worth the trouble it can cause. Having been a victim of the _Star Trek: Generations_ script fiasco...and subsequently Paramount, I can personally attest to the fact that getting involved with copyright violations can get nasty. And I don't want this list to end up on the cutting-edge of net-law.

Posting of copyrighted material will result in a *strong* warning from me. And, depending on the nature of the violation, possible removal from the list *without* further infractions. When in doubt *ask* me. If I say no...then don't post it. If I say yes...fine. Then if there's any problem, it's on *my* head and the list will be spared.

3) If a post *specifically* states that it is not to be forwarded to other lists or other people, that request is to be honored.

It is generally acceptable to forward information from this list to other lists, newsgroups and individuals. However, on occasion, a source will *specifically* state that the information that they are giving us is to go no further than the list. In order to protect the individuals involved, we will *not* pass such information along.

Also, on occasion, we will hear *rumors* that have not been confirmed. If it is stated in the post that the rumors are to go no further than the list, then they will go no further. This is to avoid starting campaigns directed towards inappropriate individuals which may cause ill-will and may hurt us in the long run.

If an indivdual has been discovered to be forwarding posts that *explicitly* state that they are for our eyes only, it will be considered grounds for removal from the list. Depending upon the severity of the violation, there may or may not be a warning given first.

and...

4) *NO* obscenities!

Earth2 is a family oriented program and this is a family oriented list. We have *many* youthful members, several of whom subscribe via their parent's internet accounts. We will not be a corrupting influence. Using obsenities on the list will result in a warning from me. Further infractions will result in removal from the list.

Appropriate use of the "sacred asterisk" can avoid some problems in this area.

Those are the only four hard and fast rules. Everything else is sorta kinda flexible...but I always have the final say.

Try to stay on topic...but if you think about it, that covers a lot of ground. If you absolutely, positively *have* to post something off topic, to insert an OBE2 (Obligatory Earth2 comment). On occasion, there may be something that you're so excited about or a bit of personal news that you just can't contain and you'll feel the irrisistable urge to post it. I hope that we'll all be friends, so we'll probably be interested. An OBE2 will help pacify those that *aren't* interested. I'm sure that we can all think of something thoughtful to say about the series at any given moment (I know *I* can :-) ). If a thread wanders off topic for *too* long, I'll kill it...but I try to let them die a natural death whenever possible.

If a thread gets beaten to death...I reserve the right to kill it *after* a sufficient number of list members has complained to me either on-list or privately (if you don't want to complain on-list). However, I'm not going to let any one person dictate when a topical thread should be killed, myself included.

In short, I'll try to keep my hands off as much as possible...just keep in mind that I'm always here. But, hey! I wanna have fun too, so I'm gonna try to not make this feel like work for myself (been there...done that...don't like it...)
